CONVERSE MUNICIPAL COURT

The Converse Municipal court handles all class C misdemeanor Traffic and City ordinance violations written by Converse Police, Animal Control and Enforcement departments.

COURT BUSINESS HOURS

Administrative Hours of Operation: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday

Court Hours of Operation: Sign in at 2:30 pm, Court begins at 3:00pm

Court is held the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Wednesday of each month, in order to see the Judge you must appear on your scheduled court date listed on your citation.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • ALLOW FIVE TO TEN BUSINESS DAYS for court processing of your citation.  The person who can answer the citation is the defendant or the defendant’s attorney.
  • You may pay by cash, money order, check or MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.  Credit card payments have a 3% charge on the total amount being paid.  We also accept bank debit cards with the MasterCard/Visa logo when paying in person. You may pay in person, by mail, or through the night drop box located in the water department’s parking lot, (Please, use a sealed envelope clearly marked municipal court and use your ticket # or driver’s license # on your check or money order)

 

  • You must be prepared to pay your fine and court costs at the date and time designated on your citation, unless arrangements are made with the Judge.  Court sign in begins at 2:30 pm; court proceedings begin at 3:00 pm.  A phone call does not constitute an appearance.  Failure to appear on or before your court date will result in the filing of additional charges and issuance of a warrant for your arrest.   
  • If you need a payment plan you may request it from the court clerk prior to your court date or from the Judge at your court appearance.  SENATE BILL 1471 was passed on September 1, 1997 and states that the court is required to collect a $25.00 fee on any one who seeks to pay over a period of time rather than immediately.  This is on anyone convicted of any misdemeanor and ordered to pay fines, court cost or restitution.  This will be applied to the fine on the 31st day.   If you only need 30 days to pay this fee will not be charged.

 

  • A mandatory court appearance is required for all defendants under 17 years old.   A parent or guardian must accompany you.  Failure to appear by a parent is a Class C misdemeanor and may be fined up to $200.00.
  • A mandatory court appearance is also required for tobacco offenses on defendants under age 18 and alcohol offenses on defendants under age 21.  (Under 18 requires parent/guardian attendance)

 

  •       Proper courtroom attire is required when you appear before the judge.  Clothing must be neat and clean; no torn or cutoff shorts or jeans.  T-shirts are allowed (no obscene or offensive messages) but no muscle shirts, crop tops or tank tops.  Shoes are required. All hats must be removed and all cell phones and pagers turned off.  If you bring a child you must keep the child with you and quiet at all times.  No food or drink is allowed in the courtroom.
  • Converse Municipal Court is a court of record.  All proceedings are recorded on an audio system.  You must speak up when appearing before the judge

Warrants issued by the City of Converse can be paid by mail or in person.
