How do I apply for a job?

In order to begin the application process, you will need to create an online application through our Career Portal.

What if I don’t have access to a computer?

Computers are available Monday through Thursday 9:00am – 6:00pm, Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm, and Saturday 10:00am – 2:00pm at the Converse Public Library.

How often are new jobs listed?

New jobs can be posted at any time, depending on the need. To check new postings, click on the Employment Opportunities page of our website.

Can I attach documents relevant to my application?

Yes. You will be given the opportunity to attach your electronic resume/cover letter or any supporting documentation when you apply.

Who will see my online job application?

The City of Converse is committed to ensuring your confidential information is protected. Your online job application is accessible to the Human Resources Department and the hiring managers for the specific position for which you are applying. As a public employer, job-related test scores and some applicant information may be treated as public information under the Texas Public Information Act.

What if I need to clarify or add information after submitting my application for a position?

If you are selected for an interview, you can inform the hiring manager of any updated/clarifying information.

Can I still apply if I have a criminal history?

Yes. Some jobs within the City of Converse are open to applicants with a criminal history. It depends on the nature and circumstances of your criminal record and the nature of the job you are seeking. It is very important to be honest and disclose on the application any criminal background you have. Prior to starting work with the City of Converse, each applicant is subject to a full background check. If a crime appears on a background check that was not disclosed on the application, then the offer of employment can be rescinded. If an undisclosed crime is discovered after you are hired, it can be grounds to terminate your employment.

Where is HR located?

Human Resources is located in the City of Converse City Hall building at 406 S. Seguin, Converse, TX 78109. While we strive to serve the public, walk-in appointments for interviews and resume drop-offs cannot be accepted. We encourage you to contact HR at 210.566.1446 if you have an HR-related question. Active team members are encouraged to call to confirm their representative is available and not working at another location.
